The Philosophy

After talking to many traditional and homeschool families, there was a common theme of confusion and questions. Are we doing enough? What paperwork do we need? Are our students on the right track? How do we build the high school portfolio and capture our students in unique ways? It is my mission to shed light on these questions and empower families to think outside the box, consider their whole student, and approach high school in a way that considers their students' unique needs while avoiding everything they don't need or want.

Kayla Yearick

As a PA Certified School Counselor, I have worked with students ranging from 5th to 12th grade. I was born and raised in Bellefonte and have made this our forever home. Throughout my childhood, I was always interested in education and started customizing my own high school schedule to take advantage of new dual enrollment opportunities. Those habits of customizing my coursework to accomplish my goals in as little time as possible with the least amount of expense possible continued through my undergraduate and graduate degrees. While a high school counselor, I have continued to hone those skills with the students I work with, ensuring they take advantage of all possible opportunities and test out their areas of interest.

Honestly, I never considered homeschooling my own children. However, as they say, parenthood changes everything! After a fast-and-furious introduction to the "crunchy" community, I began to look not only at health but also education in a more holistic light. As a lifelong learner, I'm excited to bring my professional background to join you and your family on this journey to a tailored high school and post-secondary adventure.
